Jane Choi

Hi! I’m a Ph.D. student in sociology at Harvard University, researching culture, inequality, race, and education. I examine what is taken to constitute "authentic" ethnic, racial, and national belonging, how claims to authenticity are constructed and contested, and how these processes shape inter- and intragroup boundaries. I’m affiliated with the Weatherhead Research Cluster on Comparative Inequality and Inclusion and the Center for American Political Studies.
Previously, I assisted research on family well-being and children’s development at MDRC and completed my B.A. in sociology at Columbia University.
I grew up in Seoul, S. Korea, and the San Francisco Bay Area. By way of New York City and Cambridge, I’m now based in Los Angeles.

Reach me at janechoi (at) g.harvard (dot) edu.
